March 3, 2026 decides who leads Texas.
Most voters don’t show up.
Why the primaries matter
The Texas primary elections decide who appears on the November ballot for Congress, the Legislature, and statewide offices. Yet only a small share of eligible voters show up. When participation is low, outcomes reflect the few, not the many.
We exist to change that.
participation
gap
More than 15 million Texans vote in November. Only a fraction participate in March.
This gap means:
Key leadership decisions are made before most people are paying attention
Communities with trusted messengers are underrepresented
Businesses, nonprofits, and faith communities miss an opportunity to support informed participation
March Matters focuses on awareness, timing, and turnout when it matters most.
49%
of the voting age population participated in 2024 General Elections
